| Essential Qualifications & Experience | |
| Educational Qualification | I. A Master’s Degree in Library Science, Information Science or Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree, with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade in point-scale). |
| Academic Record | II. A consistently good academic record, with knowledge of computerization of a library. |
| NET / Ph.D. Requirement | III. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC/CSIR or similar test accredited by UGC like SLET/SET OR have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with UGC (M.Phil/Ph.D.) Regulations (2009/2016) and amendments. |
| Ph.D. exemption — Conditions |
Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to 11 July 2009 may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET provided all of the following are certified by the Registrar/Dean (Academic Affairs): a. Ph.D. awarded in regular mode. b. Ph.D. thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners. c. Open Ph.D. viva voce conducted. d. At least two research papers from Ph.D. work published, of which one in a refereed journal. e. At least two conference/seminar presentations based on Ph.D. work funded/sponsored by UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar agency. |
| Note | Fulfilment of the above Ph.D. conditions must be certified by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs) of the awarding University. |
| Additional Requirement (Probation) | If selected and not already passed, the candidate will be required to pass CCC (Course on Computer Concepts) and Hindi/Gujarati higher-level examinations during probation as per Government norms. |
