Greetings from IIC! India International Centre (IIC) is
organizing a
National Conclave on “AI and Ethics:
Perspectives from Industry and Academia”
Scheduled on
February 20, 2024,
wherein we plan brainstorming session on various contours of AI and Ethics. AI transforms science and society fundamentally by empowering our use of data, not only for the needs of science but nearly every aspect of our lives. This National Conclave examines the relationship between ethics, artificial intelligence and data ecosystem per se and the extent of their integration with one another and with society. The Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology brings with it not only new understanding to our processing and application of data, but also opens new worlds for exploration and new pathways for science. The event will bring out how Data science underpins the work of AI, while AI provides the power to automate tasks, create new data, uncover ‘hidden’ information to enable prediction or decision- making. India has established an AI Ethics Committee to develop guidelines for responsible AI adoption. We are also the world’s largest data consumer, emphasizing the importance for robust data protection regulations. Ethical AI is not just a regulatory requirement; it’s becoming a competitive advantage for businesses. This session opens a dialogue on the fundamental frameworks of ethics in the data sciences and artificial intelligence, focusing on the human dimensions of the technological impacts of our digitalised societies on fundamental human rights, social values, and legal frameworks in our differentiated yet shard human conditions. Such a dialogue is essential to ensure that AI is developed and used for the good of society. Our objective is to connect all segments of the society including information specialists, researchers and librarians to partake in the knowledge sharing sessions on the above theme and key takeaways thereof on various connected issues.
