Call for Papers

On the auspicious occasion of Centenary Celebration, The Bengal Library Association proudly announces a joint seminar in collaboration with the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Calcutta. Original research papers are invited for presentation on the following themes:

Theme-I: Role of Library Associations in Library Movement in the Country
1. The Role of Library Associations: Exploring the contributions of national, state, special, and librarians’ associations in strengthening libraries
2. National Knowledge Commission on Libraries: Examining the commission's role in shaping library policies
3. Developing Professional Standards: Establishing a Code of Conduct for types of libraries
4. Legislative Advocacy: Implementing Library Acts for library growth at national and state levels
5. Government Support: Central and State Government's role in fostering a robust library movement
6. Education and Training: Understanding the impact of library schools in the development of libraries
Theme-II: Media and Information Literacy (MIL): Challenges and Prospects in the 21st Century
1. Digital Literacy and the Information Divide
2. Integrating Media Literacy in Educational Curricula in developing MIL Skills in Youth
3. Media Literacy for Critical Thinking and Informed Citizenship
4. MIL for Marginalized Groups: Inclusive Approaches to Learning
5. MIL in the Age of Disinformation: Fighting Fake News and Misinformation
6. Media Ethics and Responsibilities in the Digital Age
7. Advocating MIL Policies: Role of Media Organisations
8. Collaborations among Media Organizations and other Social Institutions for Public Literacy
9. Facilitators of Media Literacy in the Community
10. Libraries as Knowledge Hub: Academic Library, Public Library, Special Library, Newspaper Library, Media Library, etc.

Interested library and media professionals are invited to submit their papers as per the guidelines given below within November 30, 2024.
