QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

A Ma ter's Degree in Library Science/Information Science/ Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and a consistently good academic record.

Provided.

(a)        Relaxation of 5% marks may be allowed at the Graduate and Masters level for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Differently.abled (physically and visually differently-abled)/ and Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non•creamy layer) categories for determining eligibility and good academic record.

(b)        Minimum qualifying marks of 55% at the Masters level can be relaxed by 5% (up to 50%) for Ph.D. Degree holders who have obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19th September, 1991.

(c)         Eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above would be admissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark.

(d)        Essential qualifications must have been obtained from a recognized University / Institute or a recognized University / Institute recognized by UGC/ Other statutory apex bodies, or recognized by the State or Central Government as a centre of Higher learning. In case of a foreign University, the Degree should be recognized as equivalent to its Indian counterpart by the Association of Indian Universities.

(II)            Should   have   qualified    In   the    National/   State        Eligibility   Test

(NET/SLET/SET) for Librarianship conducted by the University Grants Commission or the West Bengal College Service Commission or any other agency approved by the University Grants Commission.

Provided.

(a)       Candidates who have been awarded Ph. D. Degree in Library Science or in an equivalent subject, in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standard and Procedure for Award of       Ph.D.

Degree)      Regulations,                                        2009 are exempted  from               qualifying                                             in         the
Eligibility Test (NET / SLET / SET)

(b)      Candidates registered for Ph. D programme prior to 11'h July, 2009, shall also be exempted from qualifying in the eligibility test (NET/ SLET / SET) as described hereinafter;

 

 

The award of Degree to candidates registered for Ph.D programme prior to 11th July, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances / By-laws/ Regulations of the Institutions awarding the Degree in the same or relevant subject and shall be exempted from the requirement of NET / SLET / SET, subject to fulfilment of the following conditions:-

(1) Ph.D. Degree of the candidate was awarded in regular mode only;

(2) Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners;

(3) Open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate had been conducted;

(4) Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph. D. work out of which at least one must be in a referred journal;

(5)      Candidate    has    made    at     least     two      presentations    in
conferences/seminars, based on his/her Ph.D. work.

(6) (1) to (5) as above are to be certified by the Vice-chancellor/Pro­Vice-Chancellor/Dean (Academic Affairs)/Dean(University instructions).

(iii)     Must have knowledge regarding Computerization of Library.

(iv)     Proficiency, spoken and written, in Bengali & English are required for all Colleges except Banarhat Hindi College for which proficiency in Hindi & English are required.

N.B.: Relevant column of online application regarding above mentioned point

must be filled by the candidates.

AGE

Not more than 40 (forty) years as on 01.01.2019.

 

FEE: Rs. 210/- (Rupees two hundred ten) only

 

 

S.C./S.T. candidates of West Bengal and Persons with disabilities (P.W.D.) having physical disability of 40% and above are not reouired to Day any fee. BC candidates of West Bengal are, however, required to pay usual fee as aforesaid. NO EXEMPTION OF FEE IS AVAILABLE TO S.C. /S.T. CANDIDATES OF OTHER STATES. No claim for refund of the fee will be entertained nor will it be held in reserve for any other examination.
